Christmas Coffee Scrub

Winter Coffee And Sugar Scrub

in DIY

It’s my Christmas series, and another pampering product I’ve been meaning to make for ages, is this homemade coffee sugar scrub! I’ve been getting quite lazy with exfoliating in the bath and almost always forget to body brush. So now I’ve made this sweet smelling scrub to keep by the bath, I have no excuse 🙂

Exfoliating the skin encourages blood circulation which is great for keeping cellulite at bay and giving your skin a natural glow. Both the sugar and coffee grounds will help to buff the skin, whilst the vanilla extract and essential oils add an even more Christmassy aroma. It is the caffeine in the coffee that is an anti-oxidant and reduces inflammation, wonderful for tired and dry skin that’s needs a little love!

Festive all-natural body scrubThe Recipes

Vanilla Coconut

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground Christmas coffee blend (you can use raw or the warm grounds used from your coffee machine)
  • 2-3 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon ground desiccated coconut
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract or 5 drops vanilla essential oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg or fresh grated (optional)

Sweet Orange

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground Christmas coffee blend (you can use raw or the warm grounds used from your coffee machine)
  • 2-3 tablespoons castor, jojoba or hemp seed oil
  • 5 drops sweet orange essential oil
  • 5 finely ground cloves

After Eight Peppermint

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground Christmas coffee blend (you can use raw or the warm grounds used from your coffee machine)
  • 2-3 tablespoons castor, jojoba or hemp seed oil
  • 5 drops peppermint essential oil

The Method and Application

Mix the sugar and coffee in a bowl and add the essential oils if you’d like these for extra yumminess. Add in the castor, jojoba or hemp seed oil (almost any oil could work). If using coconut oil, melt first in a bowl over hot water and pour into the sugary coffee goodness. Pour into an airtight glass jar and you’re done!

Add some pretty ribbon with a label, and you have an adorable homemade Christmas gift.

Light-duty exfoliator

For a finer texture, skip the sugar and mix ground coffee beans with a little warm water (or take the fresh coffee grounds used from your coffee machine if you have one) and just enough castor oil to form a paste. Apply on dry skin and buff in a circular motion to remove dead skin cells before washing off in the bath or shower.

Let me know if you try this, I’d love to hear what you think – please tweet me or comment below 🙂 Happy Christmas! x
