January Mini Survival Kit

Freezing cold, wind, rain, snow, winter blues, anxiety and difficulties with low confidence (thanks to a crappy break-up) have started to take their toll on me this month. Why is it when you're going through stress the natural reaction is to not look after yourself? Since when does self-destruct help any matter? After neglecting my body proper nutrition, and surviving instead on Amazon Prime movies, tea, rage and excessive worrying, I realised taking good care of myself needed to be part of my healing process. I have found a few things that have helped me survive what has so far been [...]
Rio Rosa Mosqueta Cream Cleanser & Rosehip Seed Oil

Winter Skincare: Rio Rosa Mosqueta

This month I have decided to try something new in preparation for the cold winter ahead (currently upon us in the form of snow I think). My usual cream cleanser finished and I wanted to do what proper ladies do and start a fancy skincare routine. Who knows, maybe one of these days someone might notice and comment on my radiance. I hope it makes me look like a golden angel with this thing called glow that all girls want to shine off their faces. On to the review... Rio Rosa Mosqueta Cream Cleanser Sensitive skin and eczema-friendly After testing [...]
Handmade Naturals Moisturiser

Non-Comedogenic Moisturiser ft. Handmade Naturals

A couple of weeks ago I put out a tweet asking for recommendations for an affordable hydrating moisturiser from natural/organic brands. After my interesting faux-pas with coconut oil as a moisturiser (I ended up having to steam my face over the course of a few weeks to help clear my skin again) I have become very wary of which oils and butters are the most comedogenic i.e. pore-blocking. A bit of research using this very helpful list and this one interestingly found that cocoa butter, coconut butter, coconut oil, wheatgerm oil, soybean oil and red algae are the main oils and butters [...]
Mavala Twilight Diamonds Duo

Twilight And Diamond Nails

Last month I happened to see this little set at my TKMaxx (always a good green beauty bargain to be found there!) - including two beautiful blue shades from Mavala. I'm still a relative newbie with 'greener' nail polishes, I'm not sure why I always seem to forget to keep a look out for some pretty polishes when browsing online so I was keen to give this cute duo a go! I formed some kind of love for Mavala polishes after finding another of their sets, a trio of neutral shades which I couldn't stop wearing for several weeks. Sadly, they [...]
Champagne and Raspberry

Champagne and Raspberry Makeup Look

As my make-up has been quite low-key lately, I thought I'd try and bring back a little glam! My family and I were heading out for lunch together for a New Year's meal, so it was the perfect excuse to use my Bellápierre Everyday Shimmer Kit in Pretty Woman to create a lovely champagne-shimmery eye-look paired with red raspberry lips :) The Base My base for the foundation is the same as usual (my everyday makeup routine explains it all!) - I use my Madara tinting fluid in Moon Flower Rose Beige and applied using my fingers. I then buffed [...]
Love Lula December Box

Love Lula December Box Review

My December Love Lula box arrived and I was very very excited!! I had really enjoyed the last box - this is my review for November - but sadly December's box didn't quite embody the spirit of Christmas. No Christmas card, no Season's Greetings, nothing sparkly and shiny, and no party make-up or nail polish! There was yet another hand cream and two sample sachets which I'm not a super fan of (can you seriously base an important decision of whether to buy the full-size by testing with 1 measly millilitre of the product, which is packaged in an annoying [...]
DIY Wintery Body Lotion Bars

DIY Body Lotion Bars

I originally intended for these to be bath melts, but realised I don't like having oily baths (hair drama) so I decided to re-style them as body lotion bars. I know Lush have some of these in their stores, but they aren't 100% natural... These babies however, most certainly are! :D The Recipe The Base 1 cup unrefined cocoa butter 1/2 cup unrefined coconut oil or shea butter 1/2 beeswax (optional) To add aroma... Christmas 3 drops clove essential oil 3 drops sandalwood essential oil 1 drop ginger essential oil 1 drop black pepper essential oil Floral 4 drops lavender essential [...]
Mulled Wine Muslin

DIY Mulled Wine Spice Bags

in DIY
This year I'm going all out to do everything as super festive as possible, that I just didn't get round to doing in previous years. I can't quite believe I have managed to go through 24 years of my life without ever making my own mulled wine. And I only tried it for the first time last year at work! I decided that not only would it be really fun to make this at home for my family to enjoy around Christmas, but it would be a thoughtful and handy gift for friends and work colleagues. The Recipe For each muslin spice [...]
Candy Cane Bathbombs

DIY Candy Cane Bath Bombs

in DIY
Christmas isn't really Christmas without candy canes. That's the law. And to show my appreciation of these yuletide delights, I have made some cute little pink and white peppermint bath bombs which looks so dainty and yummy, as well as taking pride of place by my bath tub! The Recipe 1 cup (3 parts) sodium bicarbonate 1/4 cup (1 part) citric acid 4 drops peppermint essential oil 2 drops grapefruit or juniper essential oil distilled water in an atomiser bottle Dried ground blackberries, raspberries, strawberries or hibiscus flowers (optional) The Method As with my DIY Christmas Snowman Bath Bombs, this is the [...]
Christmas Coffee Scrub

Winter Coffee And Sugar Scrub

in DIY
It's my Christmas series, and another pampering product I've been meaning to make for ages, is this homemade coffee sugar scrub! I've been getting quite lazy with exfoliating in the bath and almost always forget to body brush. So now I've made this sweet smelling scrub to keep by the bath, I have no excuse :) Exfoliating the skin encourages blood circulation which is great for keeping cellulite at bay and giving your skin a natural glow. Both the sugar and coffee grounds will help to buff the skin, whilst the vanilla extract and essential oils add an even more Christmassy aroma. It [...]
