The Perfect Autumn/Winter Dark Lip
Having over-hauled my beauty and cosmetics products only less than a year ago, I am still building-up my natural make-up collection. This autumn I was determined to find a beautiful dark red lipstick to wear through the colder months just in time for Hallowe’en, Bonfire Night and Christmas.
Lily Lolo’s Berry Crush is just what I was looking for! A deep cranberry shade, it has a lovely dark pigmentation and applies smoothly over the lips. Before buying, I checked the ingredients carefully to make sure it didn’t contain any carmine (personally not a fan of coating my lips with crushed-up beetles). If you’re looking for a fairly glossy dark lip with great colour pay-off, this is the perfect natural lipstick! Unlike a few other natural lipsticks I have tried, this one is not sheer at all and really does give a vampish rich red as comparable with a high-end cosmetics brand such as Clinique as I used to use before.
How to Wear
The Berry Crush lipstick is very versatile which I love, as I don’t always feel confident wearing it super dark on my lips for work. To wear this more subtly, I just dab onto my lips and smudge with my fingers before patting with a tissue and swiping Hurraw cherry lip balm over the top.
To wear bold, I don’t have a natural lip liner dark enough to match this shade, so I use a small lip brush to first line my lips before filling in. I does look fairly glossy on its own but you could wear a dark red lipgloss on top to give extra shine.
Anyone with naturally darker lips like me will fall in love with this lipstick. I usually find it quite difficult to find lipsticks that are both moisturising and give rich colour – and I even had this problem when I used both high-end and high-street cosmetics brands. I have very dry lips 365 days of the year so this product does a lovely job of keeping them in good condition 🙂
As this a statement berry shade, I like to keep the rest of my make-up very simple. Usually just a little eyeliner and mascara, or if feeling bold, the cat-eye takes it up a notch – a nice classy look for heading somewhere special!
