DIY Mango and Coconut Body Lotion Bars

in DIY

This weekend I’ve been whipping up some DIY beauty treats with my momma! We used up some homemade body lotion bars I made a few weeks ago (these lavender ones) so we decided to try a different mix of oils to add to the recipe for something with a more summertime vibe. What could be more delicious than some tropical inspired mango and coconut body lotion bars ๐Ÿ™‚

The recipe is so simple and very easy to make, this is what you will need;

Melt the mango butter, cocoa butter and coconut oil in a glass bowl over a pan of boiling water (make sure the bowl doesn’t touch the water). Take off the heat and leave to cool slightly before adding the essential oils, I decided to use lime and neroli but you could use any that you like. If you have sensitive skin you could leave these out. Pour the mixture into your moulds – I used this super cute flower silicon mould with pretty detailing – and pop into the ice-cube tray in your freezer. They only need about 10-15 minutes before they are set and ready to use!

  • Thank you! ^-^

  • Hi Sophie,

    This is such a great idea – I’ve seen something similar in Lush, but I’d love to give it a try myself! Do you get all your products from Amazon or is there any shops I could go to?

    • Thanks Besma ๐Ÿ™‚

      Yes do try it, it’s so easy and you can make them in literally half an hour! I usually get all my ingredients from Amazon – eNaissance are a good company that I use for things like shea butter, cocoa butter and essential oils. I’d recommend refined butters too rather than unrefined especially with shea butter. I have tried both types, but unrefined (although less processed) smells really strong and overpowers any other ingredients you put in the mix. It smells a lot like sheep! Not a great smell for a body lotion bar haha! I’ve also found it’s very greasy compared with the refined version.

      If there are any shops near you that sell the raw ingredients then definitely try those but I don’t have any near where I live so I buy mine online ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Thanks so much for the advice! I’m going to order the ingredients for myself online as you’ve said. I can imagine it works out a lot cheaper and it’s a fun thing to do too!

        • No problem ๐Ÿ™‚ Tag me when you try it! x
