DIY Candy Cane Bath Bombs
Christmas isn’t really Christmas without candy canes. That’s the law. And to show my appreciation of these yuletide delights, I have made some cute little pink and white peppermint bath bombs which looks so dainty and yummy, as well as taking pride of place by my bath tub!
- 1 cup (3 parts) sodium bicarbonate
- 1/4 cup (1 part) citric acid
- 4 drops peppermint essential oil
- 2 drops grapefruit or juniper essential oil
- distilled water in an atomiser bottle
- Dried ground blackberries, raspberries, strawberries or hibiscus flowers (optional)
As with my DIY Christmas Snowman Bath Bombs, this is the same method. Mix the dry ingredients together in a bowl (you might want to sieve these to ensure you have no lumps) before adding the essential oils and mixing well. Divide the mixture into two separate bowls and add the dried ground fruit powder to one bowl to make it a pink shade.
Spray each mixture lightly with water using an atomiser bottle to dampen the powder. Mix well after every three-four sprays of water until the mixture holds its shape when pressed into a ball in your palm. Make sure not to make the powder to damp, or spray too much water at one time as it will react in the bowl (stop spraying when you hear it start to fizz).
Press the two mixtures one layer at a time into a silicone ice cube tray to create the stripy candy cane look. Leave to set for about 2 hours or overnight, and press out. Delicately place in a glass dish or a jar. Add some festive sparkly ribbon for some extra Christmas cuteness.
